1. Please describe your short and long term goals post-MBA. Explain how: your professional experience has shaped these goals; why this career option appeals to you; and how you arrived at the decision that now is the time and the MBA is the appropriate degree. Additionally, please briefly address a backup plan should your short-term goal not come to fruition for any reason. (500 words maximum)
Logically connect your past experience with the short-term goals and the short-term goals with long-term goals. Show how your professional strengths, abilities and interests are ideally suited for the career you have chosen. Identify the skills and experiences you need to build up in order to achieve the goals and show how the specific parts of the program will help you acquire them.
2. (optional) What personal qualities or life experiences distinguish you from other applicants? How do these qualities or experiences equip you to contribute to UNC Kenan-Flagler? (500 words maximum)
What is unique about your background, the values by which you lead your life and the activities you are driven to contribute to? How do these unique aspects influence what you do and achieve? How will others gain from interacting with you? How will these factors unique to you make you a useful resource for other students?
3. (Optional) If your standardized test scores are low, or if you have not had coursework in core business subjects (calculus, microeconomics, statistics, financial accounting), please tell us how you plan to prepare yourself for the quantitative rigor of the MBA curriculum. (300 words maximum)
4. (Optional) Is there any other information you would like to share that is not presented elsewhere in the application? (300 words maximum)
Don't summarize your application here. Imagine if the admissions committee meets you after reading your application and the other essays and says that they are undecided and will base their decision on your answer to this question. What more can you say without repeating anything else in the application about why they should select you? Take this as your last opportunity to influence their decision.
